VOLUNTEERS  APPRECIATED

Dawn says, "It is amazing what adult swimmers can do. The motivation is so  different than young swimmers - adults have better concentration and understanding of what they are trying to do and they swim because they enjoy the fun of being together in a sport they love."

Come visit, it's fun and we can always use extra help!
Head coach and Team Director Dawn Bean began with the Unsyncables in 1992, after they asked her to critique the team routine they planned to enter in the World Championship that summer. The club, then just six swimmers, had started in a class at the Pasadena Y and had coached themselves for competition. Seeing their love of the sport, their interest and dedication, she soon became their volunteer head coach. In five years, she brought them from near last place finishes to win their first  overall championship title in 1997. Now, 17 years later, and with 35 swimmers, the team has won the U.S. Masters National title 7* times. They have won gold, silver and bronze medals at all the World Masters Championships since 1992.
Assistant Coach Laurette Longmire, responded to a plea for help in getting the Unsyncables ready for the Masters World Championships in 2006 and she continues now on a regular basis.

.Laurette also has a long background in Synchronized Swimming, beginning with the Riverside Aquettes and followed by collegiate swimming at The Ohio State University where she helped OSU win the overall collegiate national championships all four years of her attendance. A graduate of the Ohio State University, she returned to Southern California and has held several positions as a computer specialist and took over as head coach of the Glendale Swim Club (no longer in existence).
Laurette has a distinguished record with United States Synchronized Swimming. She is a past president of USSS, served as Olympic International Chairman and is currently representing synchronized swimming on the U.S. Aquatic Sports Coordinating Board.

2007 Honors for Laurette. At the recent West Zone meetings and competition, Laurette was named West Zone Contributor of the Year for her many years of service to the sport.
