| Meet the 50s |
| Jill has had numerous health issues the past five or so years and while she swam on the team that won the 50-59 team event at the last nationals in Florida, she sustained a ski injury to her ribs this spring that kept her from swimming in the world championships this year although she was a big help to her team poolside coaching. A member of the Unsyncables since 1992, she won gold medals in three world championships, 1992 in Indianapolis, 1996 in England and in Munich, 2000. At nationals last year, she won gold medals in both the 50-59 team and on the Combo team. When young, Jill swam for the Long Beach Synchronettes and later helped coach that team. She and her husband both retired now, enjoy spending time with the grandchildren. |
| DeeAnna won a gold medal the first time in her synchro career in the 2002 Nationals, winning first place in 70s trio with Lizzi and Miriam.and also winning silver in 50-59 team. This past year, she has been part of the 50-64 team that placed 5th at the world championships in Palo Alto. DeeAnna had never been a synchro swimmer before joining the Unsyncables. A lap swimmer since 1983, she has played team softball, was on a bowling team and ran 10Ks in the late 70s and early 80s. With her daughter now in college, DeeAnna finds time to work with PAWS, an animal rescue group based in Upland. | Mary is one of four original Unsyncables and was out of the area for some years while studying for a law degree. She returned to synchro in 1999 was part of the winning 50-64 team at the World Championships in Munich. This year she was part of the 50-64 team that took 5th at the World Championships. Mary, a practicing attorney says, "I love it when we all get synchronized and it flows." Daughter Andrea swam for both the Meraquas of Irvine and the California Coralettes before leaving to concentrate on water polo. | Ruth captained the 50-64 team for the world championships this past summer. The team took 5th in the 50-64 age group and with Sylvia and Lilia, she also placed 4th in 35-49 trio. Ruth won her first medals at the World Championships in Munich in 2000 and was part of the winning 50-64 team. She had been a speed swimmer in high school and had always wanted to try synchro but there was no team in her area then. She found the Unsyncables in 1998 while doing rehabilitation for her knee which had been crushed and replaced because of an automobile accident. She says "I enjoy the comaraderie, laughter and realizing just what we can do physically." Active in PTA, she also finds time to help with her children, Connor and Rachel's activities. She has been a scout den leader for six years and accompanies the troop on campouts. . |

| Kim, an exercise physiologist, was a diver at once time who placed 6th in the National Championships. In high she participated in synchro and trampoline and played all kinds of sports, raquetball, tennis, biking ... She has three young children, ages 4-9. . |
| Corby got her start in synchro with LA's Team Atlantis and participated with them in one competition. She then joined a masters speed swim team and planned to swim the speed events in the masters worlds. Instead, she worked hard to develop her synchro skills so she could participate in the synchro events. She competed with the 65 & over team which placed first. Quite a way to start, right at the top! She spends much time in the water as a WSI teacher, lifeguard and as a private swim instructor. She has college age children. |
| Vickie is a school nurse with background in synchro as a novice coach and Level 3 judge. In college, she participated in all sports and competed one year in swimming and 2 years in volleyball. She decided to swim herself and accompanied daughter Jenni when she joined the team. |
