Meet the 40s    
Lesley competed with the Unsyncables at the Masters Nationals in Roseville where she placed 2nd in 40-49 team and 3rd in the 40-49 solo. In 2003, she won gold in 30 GM team. She was disappointed when her team could not go enter the World Championships since she had been part of the winning 35-49 team at the worlds in Munich in 2000. When young, Lesley was a competitor in the Canadian National Championships, swimming first for the Toronto Leaside Club and then for the Ottawa Neptunettes. She said she "missed it and is thrilled to be back."  Lesley enjoys Salsa Dancing with husband Frank and now is back into modeling where she has enjoyed great success some years back, as a model and as an agent.
Lea achieved a major goal in the world championships in New Zealand when she won the 30-39 gold medal in solo. She was also part of the winning 35-49 trio from 1998-2004. Lea has participated in masters world and national championships since 1996 and has won gold medals in team, duet, trio and five solo titles. She was the overall high point award winner in three national championship. Lea didn't begin Masters until 1996 and when asked why she decided to return to the sport, she replied, "I had been on many swimming trips before when I was young, but I had never been to England." Lea competed for the Meraquas of Irvine. Her youth career was highlighted by winning all three U.S. Junior National titles in 1982. In 1983, she won gold and bronze medals at the Hans Christian Andersen Cup in Denmark. She retired in 1983 after 11 years of swimming to attend UCLA where she now works with the football program.
Karen repeated as the world 40-49 solo champion when she won that title for the second time at the just held World Championships in Palo Alto. She also repeated as the 35-49 trio champion, winning that event with Kristen and Angela this year and she was part of the 20-34 team taking 12th. Karen had a long swimming career before becoming active on the Synchro Board of Directors where she is vice president of development. Karen was a member of the first U.S. national team ever assembled and won the Pan American Games in 1979. As a seven year member of the US national team, she holds many international titles. A former national team champion with the  Walnut Creek Aquanuts, she won collegiate duet, trio and team titles with The Ohio State University. She is head coach of  Los Angeles Synchro where her daughter Rachael is a team member.
Sylvia headed to Italy in 2004 after just beginning with the Unsyncables. Entering solo, she placed 11th there and this year, with even stiffer competition, she again placed 11th. Swimming with Lilia and Ruth, she earned 4th in 35-49 trio and was 5th in the 50-59 team event. She is the proud mom of a son and two daughters. Recently, her oldest daughter graduated from Cal Arts and her son won a Regency scholarship to UCLA for his entire college career..
Shelley has been a member of the Unsyncables since 1995 and was an ndividual high point winners at the 2002 nationals with 3 gold medals. She has won medals in every national championship since her start in masters. In World Championships, she has been part of the gold medal trio in 35-49 from 1998 - 2004. When young, Shelley swam for the Long Beach Synchronettes and then with the University of Arizona's synchro team. When away from the pool, she still enjoys water sports,  paddling around Long Beach Harbor in her kayak. Shelley is a kindergarten teacher in Long Beach.
Corby got her start in synchro with LA's Team Atlantis and participated with them in one competition. She then joined a masters speed swim team and planned to swim the speed events in the masters worlds. Instead, she worked hard to develop her synchro skills so she could participate in the synchro events. She competed with the 65 & over team which placed first. Quite a way to start, right at the top! She spends much time in the water as a WSI teacher, lifeguard and as a private swim instructor. She has college age children.
Shannon is on maternity leave now and wasn't able to go to worlds, but expects to be back for Arizona in 2007. She began with the Unsyncables in 2004 where at the Roseville nationals, she won 3 silvers. Her duet with Melanie placed 2nd in 30-39 GM category and she added another silver in GM trio with Melanie and Michele and her team placed 2nd in 30-39. She brings many years of experience as a national finalist with the  Riverside Aquettes where after swimming she continued coaching with the Aquettes for 10 years. She is employed by Disney as a stage manager after almost 20 years experience as a aerialist and dancer in the Disneyland Parades. With Shannon, the Unsyncables have a real 'flyer' now, so make sure to 'catch' her contributions with next year's team.
Sheila is new to synchro and started swimming with the Irvine Meraquas as the only adult swimmer. She is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and organized a World Laughter Day in 2007. A dance major in college with experience in Tap, ballet, tango, salsa, hip-hop, and the Lindy Hop, she now teaches Yoga. She went to the Nationals in Phoenix mainly for the experience of seeing a synchro competition but did participate in the figure competition.
